Why CPAP battery compatibility matters

CPAP battery compatibility is the match between your machine's voltage, connector type, and a battery's output. Plugging the wrong voltage into your CPAP can damage the machine or simply not power it. As of 2026, different manufacturers still use different connectors (barrel, proprietary 3-pin, USB-C) and voltages (12V or 24V), so there is no single battery that works out of the box with every machine.

The bottom line: always verify three things before buying — voltage, connector shape, and minimum wattage. This CPAP battery compatibility chart maps out exactly what works with every major CPAP and BiPAP model sold in 2026, including newer options like USB-C PD power banks for compatible machines. If you're not yet sure how CPAP batteries work or what DC-direct vs AC inverter actually means, read our CPAP battery basics explainer first.

ResMed machines

ResMed AirSense 11

The AirSense 11 is the most battery-friendly CPAP on the market because it supports USB-C Power Delivery (65W+). This means almost any modern USB-C PD battery bank can power it — no proprietary cables needed. For a full breakdown of tested options, see our best battery for ResMed AirSense 11 guide.

  • Input: 24V DC or USB-C PD (65W minimum)
  • DC connector: Barrel connector or USB-C
  • Power draw: 7-53W depending on pressure and humidifier settings
  • Compatible batteries: Any 65W+ USB-C PD power bank, Medistrom Pilot-24 Lite, Zopec Explore Mini, most power stations via AC

ResMed AirSense 10

The AirSense 10 uses a proprietary 24V DC connector. You need a battery that either outputs 24V DC with the correct cable, or an AC power station with the stock wall charger.

  • Input: 24V DC
  • DC connector: 3-pin proprietary
  • Power draw: 7-53W depending on pressure and humidifier settings
  • Compatible batteries: Medistrom Pilot-24 Lite, Freedom V², Zopec Explore Mini, ResMed Power Station II
  • Cable needed: ResMed DC/DC converter (sold separately) or battery-specific cable

For tested runtimes and buying advice, see our best battery for ResMed AirSense 10 guide.

ResMed AirMini

The travel-focused AirMini also runs on 24V DC but uses a smaller proprietary connector (similar in shape to Micro USB but electrically distinct — do not plug a Micro USB cable into it). Because the AirMini has no heated humidifier and no heated tube option, its power draw is the lowest of any 2026 CPAP at a steady 6-18W during therapy. That makes even a 100Wh battery good for two nights of CPAP-only use.

Purpose-built CPAP batteries like the Pilot-24 Lite and Zopec Explore Mini include the compatible cable. See our best battery for ResMed AirMini guide for detailed comparisons and our CPAP battery sizing guide for exact Wh math.

  • Input: 24V DC, 0.83A (20W rated)
  • DC connector: AirMini-specific proprietary (Micro USB-shaped but keyed)
  • Power draw: 6-18W (no heated humidifier available on this model)
  • Recommended battery: 100-160Wh for 2 nights; 266Wh for 4+ nights
  • Compatible batteries: Medistrom Pilot-24 Lite (with AirMini cable), Zopec Explore Mini, Freedom CPAP Battery 160Wh, AC power stations

ResMed AirCurve (BiPAP)

The AirCurve series covers ResMed's bilevel (BiPAP) machines, including the AirCurve 10 and AirCurve 11. These draw more power than standard CPAPs — typically 30-70W — so battery capacity matters more. They share the same 24V DC input and connector types as their AirSense counterparts. See our best battery for ResMed AirCurve guide for tested runtimes and recommendations.

  • Input: 24V DC (AirCurve 10: 3-pin proprietary; AirCurve 11: barrel or USB-C PD)
  • Power draw: 30-70W depending on pressure differential and humidifier settings
  • Compatible batteries: Medistrom Pilot-24 Lite, Zopec Explore Mini, Freedom V², AC power stations
  • Key consideration: Higher wattage means shorter runtime — size your battery for at least 400 Wh if using heated humidification

Philips machines

Philips DreamStation 2

The DreamStation 2 runs on 12V DC, which opens up more battery options since 12V is the most common portable battery voltage. For tested options, see our best battery for DreamStation 2 guide.

  • Input: 12V DC
  • DC connector: Barrel connector (5.5mm x 2.5mm)
  • Power draw: 5-45W depending on settings
  • Compatible batteries: Most 12V batteries with correct barrel cable, Zopec Explore Mini (with DreamStation cable kit), Jackery/EcoFlow/Bluetti via AC
  • Cable needed: 12V DC cable with 5.5 × 2.5mm barrel connector

Philips DreamStation (original)

The original DreamStation also uses 12V DC power with a similar barrel connector.

  • Input: 12V DC
  • DC connector: Barrel connector
  • Compatible batteries: Same as DreamStation 2

Philips DreamStation Go (discontinued)

The DreamStation Go is effectively end-of-life in 2026. Philips Respironics exited the U.S. sleep and respiratory care market in early 2024 as part of the Recall 2021 settlement, and DMEs have largely stopped carrying new inventory. Existing owners can still power it from any 12V DC source with the correct locking barrel cable, but replacement batteries and OEM accessories are increasingly scarce. If you rely on a DreamStation Go for travel, we recommend planning a transition to an actively supported platform — the ResMed AirMini or ResMed AirSense 11 are the two most travel-friendly alternatives with a stable 2026 battery ecosystem.

  • Input: 12V DC (legacy)
  • DC connector: Proprietary locking barrel (OEM only)
  • Power draw: 6-25W
  • Status: Discontinued; OEM battery module out of production

Transcend Micro (Somnetics / React Health)

The Transcend Micro is the smallest travel CPAP on the market and has taken share from the discontinued DreamStation Go in 2026. It runs on 24V DC and, like the AirMini, has no heated humidifier option — power draw stays between 6-18W.

  • Input: 24V DC, ~1A
  • DC connector: Proprietary barrel (Transcend P8/P4 cable)
  • Power draw: 6-18W
  • Compatible batteries: Transcend P8 battery (OEM), Medistrom Pilot-24 Lite with Transcend cable, AC power stations

React Health Luna G3 (formerly 3B Luna II)

React Health now owns the Luna line (previously sold under 3B Medical). The Luna G3 keeps the 12V DC input and standard 5.5×2.5mm barrel from the Luna II, so any 12V CPAP battery with the correct cable works out of the box.

  • Input: 12V DC, 3.33A (40W rated)
  • DC connector: Barrel 5.5×2.5mm
  • Power draw: 8-40W depending on pressure and humidifier
  • Compatible batteries: Any 12V CPAP battery with 5.5×2.5mm barrel cable, Bluetti X30, EASYLONGER ES720

Multi-voltage batteries: the new universal option

A newer category of CPAP batteries solves the compatibility problem with automatic voltage detection. The Zopec Explore Mini, for example, uses patented multi-voltage technology to automatically output 12V, 19V, or 24V depending on the connected device. It ships with cables for ResMed AirSense 10, AirSense 11, and AirMini, with optional cable kits for DreamStation, Luna, Resvent iBreeze, and other brands.

For 2026, Zopec also offers the Explore Voyage — a 150 Wh travel battery (2.0 lbs) with USB-C PD 45W fast charging and a 100W AC outlet. It powers most CPAPs for 1.5-2 nights without heated humidification and is FAA compliant for air travel.

The universal fallback: AC power stations

If your CPAP model isn't listed or you want a no-brainer solution, any portable power station with a pure sine wave AC outlet will work. Just plug in your stock CPAP wall charger. The Goal Zero for CPAP is a popular choice for camping and overlanding.

Downsides: 10-15% energy loss from DC-to-AC-to-DC conversion, and the power station's fan may add noise. But it works with every CPAP on the market. See our battery sizing guide to account for this loss, and our CPAP power consumption guide for exact wattage numbers by machine.

The CPAP battery compatibility chart below maps every major 2026 machine to its voltage, connector type, real-world power draw, and the minimum battery capacity you should buy for one full night (8 hours) of therapy. Wh recommendations assume humidifier off and no heated tube — add 30-50% if you use heated humidification. For full sizing math, see our CPAP battery sizing guide.

What about BiPAP machines?

BiPAP machines typically draw 30-90W — roughly double what a standard CPAP pulls. The same compatibility rules apply: match the voltage and connector, then size the battery for the higher wattage. Most BiPAP users need 400+ Wh power stations for a full night. Our BiPAP battery backup guide covers the best options, and our CPAP battery sizing guide shows you how to calculate exact capacity needs.

What to do next
